Lantana Camara “Miss Huff”
Tropical appearing shrub, but hardy! Showy clusters of orange and pink flowers
through the season. 'Miss Huff' hardy lantana is a small shrub that dies to the
ground in winter and is used as a perennial in our area. The key is not to cut it's
woody stems until early spring.  Plant lantana in soil with reasonable drainage
(no water saturated winter soils) and mulch.  Full sun. Mounded form to 3 to 5
feet tall, to 10 feet wide.

Pink Velour® has shrill pink flowers and distinct dark wine foliage which peaks in
the spring.  Large shrub or small tree of 12 feet or more.  High mildew resistance.
Very showy foliage provides wine landscape color before blooming.  More upright
than most crapemyrtles.
Crapemyrtle, Red Rocket

Cherry red flowers with hot, sunny conditions. Like Dynamite®, also loses red
intensity and may fleck white when cool and cloudy. New growth is crimson, then
dark green. Upright form to 15 feet.  Fastest growing 'Whit' red.  High mildew and
anthractnose resistance.  Huge flower clusters up to 24" tall.  May repeat bloom
more than Dynamite®.
Crapemyrtle, Rhapsody in Pink

Soft pink flowers.  New growth is almost purple and persists most of the season.  
Upright form to 12 feet. High mildew resistance. Distinctly unique landscape

Betula Nigra 'Whit XXV' Cultivar
Creamy-white bark during late summer, fall, and winter which develops early, when
most stems are about 1.0" in diameter.  Moderately sized dark green leaves that
turn gold in fall. Exhibits good vigor and drought tolerance under Oklahoma
conditions.  Hardy in USDA Zones 5 through 9.

Spreading deciduous small tree / large shrub, good shrub border, small garden,
specimen plant. Fragrant white flowers in erect panicles with blue-black fruit and
elliptic, glossy bright green above, white, hairy beneath Grows to 10' Tall X 10' Wide,
space 10-20' apart. Prefers full sun and regular water use in well drained soil.

leaves with red berries.

blooms that change to pink with time. Has replaced the other cultivars as the
quercifolia of choice. I am told it is definitely more heat tolerant than any other.

Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides)
This is just a fantastic tree, if you have room for it to grow. One of my personal
favorites. Beautiful exfoliating cinnamon bark, soft almost fern-like needles. Rapid-
growing, pyramidal form, deciduous  conifer. Grows 80’ to 100'.

Shoal Creek combines floral and textural interest in the garden when few other woody
plants are in bloom. Flower color & silvery foliage are especially appealing in the heat

River Birch (Betula nigra City Slicker)
This superior river birch was developed by Dr. Carl Whitcomb as a disease and pest resistant
cultivar with beautiful, white, exfoliating bark. Leaves are small and dark green. Estimated mature
height is 40-50 feet.  We have a limited number of these available in Fall 2008.

Magnolia, Betty (liliflora ‘Nigra’ x M. stellata ‘Rosea’)
An outstanding new late blooming cultivar developed at the U.S. National Arboretum.
Betty has large, abundant, reddish-purple flowers opening before the leaves
producing a magnificent display. Foliage remains attractive all season. Betty is a
rather erect shrubby grower that will attain a height of 10' and a width of 8'. Plant in
full sun to part shade with evenly moist soil.
